Cambridge-Darlene “Dar” Darfler, age 65, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, November 10, 2023, in her home. She was born on October 31, 1958, in Cambridge, New York, to the late William and Ruth Carroll.
Darlene, a strong, supportive, and caring individual, was deeply devoted to her family. She was proud of her role as a devoted wife to Joseph Darfler for 44 years and cherished her children and grandchildren, as well as her first great grandson. Darlene is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Darfler, her son, Joseph Darfler, Jr. (Raeann), son, Jason Darfler (Kim), daughter, Amber Lohret (Andrew) and her grandchildren: Hayden, Isaiah, Sophia and Amelia Lohret; Isabel, Logan, and Payton Darfler, Madeline Darfler and her great grandson, Dominic Lohret. She was also a loving sister to Suzanne Mullen, Colleen Piekarz, and William Carroll, a cousin to Diane Stevens, and had countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In her professional life, Darlene worked at Bentley Seeds, ran her own house cleaning business, and most importantly, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and caregiver.
Outside of work, Darlene found joy in her hobbies, which included gardening, bird watching, visiting friends and family, spending time with her grandchildren, and enjoying game nights with her husband, Joe, playing Yahtzee and cards. She also loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and school functions.
A ceremony to celebrate Darlene’s life will be held at the American Legion on Rt. 22 Cambridge, New York on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at 1 pm.
Darlene will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her strong spirit, supportive nature, and loving presence will be remembered fondly by her family, friends, and community. May she rest easy in grace and love.
