Nora Reed Weber
South Cambridge Nora Jean Weber, 76, of Lee’s Crossing Road, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Danforth Adult Care Center in Hoosick Falls. She was the widow of Charles W. Weber, who died in 2002.
Born Sunday, October 22, 1933 in Troy, she was the oldest child of Wallace and Helen (Gibbs) Reed. After graduating from high school she trained as a child care technician at Brady Maternity in Troy. She married Charlie in 1953 and became a farm wife doing all the jobs that position entailed.
Nora always loved children starting with taking care of her siblings and then being a child care technician. When she and Charlie could have no children they adopted their three children and raised them with total love. For many summers, David and Jesus-Fresh Air Children-stayed at the farm. In her later years she raised her grandson. For over 10 years she worked as a special needs school bus aide at Hoosick Valley Central School. She loved her “special kids”.
Her final act of care giving was to care for her beloved husband in his last days.
Two brothers, Francis and Stuart Reed, have predeceased her.
Survivors include three children, Eric Weber, Sr. of Pittsburg, PA, Stephen Weber and wife Hannah of Nassau, NY and Janice Weber-Coons and husband Christopher of South Cambridge; a sister, Eleanor Herrington of Cambridge; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 3 to 5 PM at Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 21st at 1:00 PM with burial following at Millertown Cemetery, Johnsonville.
